Collector of Stamp Revenue has decided to appeal against judgment on judicial review case concerning refund of ad valorem stamp duty

     On the Court of First Instance's judgment handed down earlier on the judicial review case brought out by a property owner concerning application for partial refund of ad valorem stamp duty (AVD), the Stamp Office today (February 29) issued the following statement:

     "After studying the court judgment and considering legal advice, the Collector of Stamp Revenue has decided to lodge an appeal against the Court of First Instance's judgment of February 18. The Collector considers there is a need to seek clarifications from the Court of Appeal on the legal issues concerned."
