Purpose of Business Register and Privacy of Personal Data

Personal Information Collection Statement
It is obligatory for you to supply the personal data as required by the relevant form for new application, amendment or cessation. If you fail to supply the required data, your application / notification will not be accepted.
The personal data provided by you will be used for tax and business registration purposes and may be made available for public inspection pursuant to sections 19 and 19A of the Business Registration Ordinance (Cap. 310) so as to enable any person to ascertain whether a business is registered under that ordinance and the particulars of the businesses so registered, in accordance with section 19B of that ordinance. The Department may also give some of such data to other parties authorized by law to receive it. Except where there is an exemption provided under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486), you have the right to request access to and correction of your personal data. Such request should be addressed to the Business Registration Officer at 2/F, Inland Revenue Centre, 5 Concorde Road, Kai Tak, Kowloon, Hong Kong.

The provision of personal data in the process of your application is voluntary. If you do not provide sufficient information, we may not be able to process your application.
The Department will use the personal data provided by you for the public search services and may give such data to other parties authorized by law to receive it. Except where there is an exemption provided under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486), you have the right to request access to and correction of your personal data. The purpose of issuing copies of business registration documents and/or extracts of information on the Business Register through the public search services is to enable any person to ascertain whether a business is registered under the Business Registration Ordinance (Cap. 310) and the particulars of the businesses so registered, in accordance with section 19B of that ordinance (“Public Search Purpose”).
Any person accessing or obtaining information on the Business Register shall comply with the provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) in respect of the use of personal data and shall not use such personal data for any purposes other than the Public Search Purpose or any purposes not directly related to the Public Search Purpose.
