Manual Tagging Function - Tax Computation & Financial Statements

In this video, we shall walk you through the manual tagging function of the IRD iXBRL Data Preparation Tools for tax computation and financial statements.

Users can perform manual tagging to tag items individually.  The manual tagging function for tax computation is applicable to both the Tagging Tool, and newly added rows on the Template Tool.  The manual tagging function for financial statements is only applicable to the Tagging Tool.

Tax Computation

Let’s walk through the tax computation first.

Step 1: (a)  Click into a schedule listed out on the left-hand side of the Tools.
(b) Taking “Profit / (Loss) before tax” as an example, click the relevant cell to highlight the figure to be tagged.
Step 2: (a)  There are two methods to perform manual tagging.  The first method is to click the “Manual Tag” button on the top panel.
(b) The second method is to right-click the figure and select “Manual Tag”. A pop-up box will appear.
Step 3: By inserting key words in the “Search Taxonomy” bar, search results will pop up and users can select the most appropriate option.
Step 4: Click “OK” to proceed.  Once the figure is tagged, a red triangle will appear on the top right-hand corner of the item.
Step 5: Users can hover their cursor over each tagged item to view its preferred label.

Financial Statements

For financial statements, users are required to tag four sections, including the Statement of comprehensive income, profit or loss, Statement of financial position, Notes to financial statements - Related party transactions and Notes to financial statements - Property, plant and equipment.

Step 1: (a)  Select an item within a table to tag.
(b) Taking “Administrative expenses” on the Statement of comprehensive income as an example, move the cursor to highlight the figure to be tagged.
Step 2: (a)  There are two methods to perform manual tagging. The first method is to click the “Manual Tag” button on the top panel.
(b) The second method is to right-click the figure and select “Manual Tag”. A pop-up box will appear.
Step 3: By inserting key words in the “Search Taxonomy” bar, search results will pop up and users can select the most appropriate option.
