Nested Tagging Function - Financial Statements
In this video, we shall walk you through the nested tagging function of the IRD iXBRL Data Preparation Tools for financial statements.
The nested tagging function is only applicable to the Tagging Tool. Users can perform nested tagging to tag a subsection of the tagged text of another tag. The outer tag must be of text or text block datatype whereas the inner tag can be of any datatype. For example, text block tag can be used to tag the disclosure statement before tagging the figures.
Step 1: | (a) | First, users should perform manual tagging to create the text block tag for the disclosure statement. |
(b) | Highlight and select a paragraph or a sentence that is not tagged.
(c) | Users either click the “Manual Tag” button on the top panel, or right-click the highlighted text and select “Manual Tag”. A pop-up box will appear.
Step 2: | By inserting key words in the “Search Taxonomy” bar, search results will pop up and users can select the most appropriate option.
Step 3: | Click “OK” to proceed. The small red triangle appearing on the upper right corner of the tagged facts indicates that the item has been successfully tagged.
Step 4: | (a) | Highlight the figure within the tagged text. |
(b) | Perform the manual tagging process to tag the inner tag.
Step 5: | (a) | Inner tag will be highlighted in an alternate light orange background color. |
(b) | The small red triangle appearing on the upper right corner of the tagged facts indicates that the item has been successfully tagged.
Step 6: | (a) | When the mouse hovers the tagged item, a comment box with preferred labels will be popped up. |
(b) | The preferred label for the inner tag is displayed on the upper row of the comment box.
(c) | The preferred label for the outer tag is displayed on the lower row of the comment box.
Step 7: | (a) | If users would like to edit, remove or edit tag attribute of the inner tag, right-click the inner tag and select the appropriate action. |
(b) | Similarly, users can right-click the outer tag and select the appropriate action to edit, remove or edit tag attribute of the outer tag. |
