Roll-over Function

In this video, we shall walk you through the roll-over function of the IRD iXBRL Data Preparation Tools for tax computation and financial statements.

The roll-over function allows users to roll over the inputted or tagged data from the previously finalised xhtml data file(s) to the new data file(s) for an adjacent year to save re-tagging efforts.

Before starting the roll-over, users should get ready the previously finalised xhtml file generated from the IRD iXBRL Data Preparation Tools which we will call it as “roll-over file” in this video.  Roll-over file(s) and the new data file(s) must be in two consecutive years.

Now, we will show you how to perform roll-over in the Tools.

Start New Workspace

Step 1: (a)  Click “Start New Workspace”.
(b) Select a designated location in users’ own computer to save the workspace, then input the name of customized workspace and select the applicable year of assessment.
(c) Click “Next” to create a new workspace.
Step 2: (a)  A pop-up box will appear.  
(b) If users wish to roll over the data from the previously finalised financial statements and tax computation xhtml file(s), click “Yes” to proceed for the roll-over.  
Step 3: (a)  Another pop-up window will appear for users to select the roll-over file(s).  
(b) Select either or both tax computation and financial statements roll-over files from the designated location.   
(c) Input the names of the respective customized data files for the new tax computation and new financial statements to be created.  
(d) Click “OK” to proceed.  If both tax computation and financial statements roll-over files are selected, their Business Registration Numbers and years of assessment must be the same.  
Step 4: (a)  The respective sections that have been rolled-over successfully will be displayed with a “Rolled over” icon.
(b) Users should review the rolled-over data in the “Enter Basic Information” and “Enter Additional Information for Tax Computation” section before accessing the tax computation or financial statements data files. 

Basic Information and Additional Information for Tax Computation

Step 1: (a)  To ensure that all the data input are correct, click “Edit” in the “Enter Basic Information” section.
(b) The relevant data in the roll-over file, if applicable, will be rolled over to the corresponding questions in the “Enter Basic Information” in the new data file.  
(c) Check all the required information and input / amend as appropriate.  
Step 2: (a)  After reviewing, click “Validate” to check the accuracy and completeness of the inputted information.
(b) Click “Save” to save the inputted information.
Step 3: (a)  Click “Next” to check the rolled over data in the “Additional Information for Tax Computation” section. 
(b) Same as before, the relevant data in the roll-over file, if applicable, will be rolled over to the corresponding questions in the “Additional Information for Tax Computation” in the new data file. 
(c) Check all the required information and input / amend the data as appropriate.  
Step 4: (a)  After reviewing, click “Validate” to check the accuracy and completeness of the inputted information.
(b) Click “Save” to save the inputted information.
(c) Click “Close” to return back to the workspace. A pop-up box will appear. Click “Yes” to proceed.
Step 5: (a) After completing “Enter Basic Information” and “Enter Additional Information for Tax Computation” section, “Rolled over” status will be changed to “In progress” in “Tax Computation” and “Financial Statements” section.  
(b) Click "Open” in the respective sections.  The file name, type of tool, taxonomy schema will be prefilled according to roll-over file.   
(c) Import the relevant tax computation or financial statements source document and select the appropriate level of rounding used in the financial statements, if appropriate.  
(d) Click “OK” to proceed.

Tagging Tool

Step 1: If the Tagging Tool is used in the roll-over file, a pop-up box will appear displaying the roll-over results for the imported file which show the total number of tags migrated and not migrated. 
Step 2: Users may click “View Roll-over Results” on the top panel to view the same roll-over results for reference.   
Step 3: Users are required to review every tag that has been rolled over to the new data file.  
Step 4: Users can click “Auto Tag” or “Manual Tag” to perform tagging for the remaining items.  Ensure all the tagged data are correct and accurate.  

Template Tool

Step 1: If the Template Tool is used in the roll-over file, the same type of template used in the roll-over file will be adopted in the new data file.  
Step 2: The descriptions and tags of the newly inserted rows and items carrying the values from last period, if applicable, will be rolled-over.  
Step 3: Check and amend the inputted data, if appropriate.   
Step 4: If the tagging process or inputted templates have been completed, users are reminded to save the data files and click “Validate” to check the accuracy and correctness of them before proceeding to generation of finalised package.
